Mensaje Presidenta
Queridos colegas, miembros de la Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Endocrinología y Diabetología:

Asumir la presidencia de nuestra Sociedad es, para mí, un honor profundo y una responsabilidad que abrazo con gratitud, humildad y esperanza. La SPED representa lo mejor de nuestra profesión: la ciencia al servicio de la salud, el compromiso con la excelencia, y la unión de un grupo de médicos que dedican su vida a cuidar, educar e inspirar.
Vivimos tiempos de grandes desafíos y también de extraordinarias oportunidades. La Endocrinología, con su constante evolución, nos reta a mantenernos actualizados, a investigar y a innovar, y también nos recuerda la esencia humana de nuestro trabajo: acompañar a nuestros pacientes con empatía, conocimiento y respeto. Asumo esta encomienda consciente de los retos que enfrenta nuestra comunidad médica, los rápido avances en la Endocrinología, el desafío en el acceso a servicios especializados, y la necesidad urgente de cuidar nuestro bienestar como profesionales.

Mi compromiso como presidenta es fortalecer una Sociedad de Endocrinología y Diabetología viva, inclusiva y solidaria que escuche las necesidades de sus miembros y que promueva el desarrollo profesional de los endocrinólogos del país. Acorde con la misión de SPED, aspiramos a una sociedad que fomente la educación continua de endocrinólogos, médicos primarios, pacientes y de otros especialistas, que impulse la investigación clínica y que sea voz activa en las políticas de salud que impactan nuestra población con Diabetes y otras condiciones endocrinas.
​
Aspiro a una SPED que unas generaciones, que inspire a los jóvenes médicos a seguir el camino de la Endocrinología, y que reconozca la trayectoria de quienes han construido con esfuerzo y visión lo que hoy somos como sociedad.
​
Agradezco profundamente la confianza depositada en mí y en la nueva Junta Directiva. Este es un proyecto colectivo, que solo puede avanzar con el apoyo, la participación y la energía de todos ustedes. SPED somos todos, los que investigan, los que educan, los que atienden pacientes con entrega día a día. Cada esfuerzo cuenta y en la unión esta nuestra fuerza.
Les invito a que trabajemos juntos, con propósito, con alegría y con esperanza, por una endocrinología puertorriqueña más fuerte, más unida y más comprometida con el bienestar de nuestro pueblo.

Message from the President
Dear colleagues and members of the Puerto Rican Society of Endocrinology and Diabetology,
​
Assuming the presidency of our Society is, for me, a profound honor and a responsibility that I embrace with gratitude, humility, and hope. SPED represents the very best of our profession: science in the service of health, a commitment to excellence, and the unity of a group of physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for, educating, and inspiring others.
We are living in times of great challenges, but also extraordinary opportunities. Endocrinology, with its constant evolution, challenges us to remain up to date, to research, and to innovate. At the same time, it reminds us of the human essence of our work: accompanying our patients with empathy, knowledge, and respect. I accept this responsibility fully aware of the challenges facing our medical community, the rapid advances in endocrinology, the barriers to access specialized services, and the urgent need to care for our own well-being as professionals.
​
My commitment as president is to strengthen a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive Society of Endocrinology and Diabetology that listens to the needs of its members and promotes the professional development of endocrinologists in our country. In alignment with SPED’s mission, we aspire to a society that fosters continuing education for endocrinologists, primary care physicians, patients, and other specialists; that promotes clinical research; and that serves as an active voice in health policies that impact our population living with diabetes and other endocrine conditions.

I envision a SPED that brings generations together, inspires young physicians to pursue the path of endocrinology, and recognizes the contributions of those who, with dedication and vision, have built what we are today as a society.
​
I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and in the new Board of Directors. This is a collective endeavor that can only move forward with the support, participation, and energy of all of you. SPED is all of us—those who conduct research, those who educate, and those who care for patients with dedication every day. Every effort matters, and in unity lies our strength.
​
I invite you to work together with purpose, enthusiasm, and hope toward a Puerto Rican endocrinology that is stronger, more united, and more committed to the well-being of our people.
